Only days after staging their comeback in time for their 9th anniversary, the K-pop boy group dropped the bomb of their upcoming hiatus.

“We’re going on a hiatus now,” Suga set the tone less than halfway into the band’s FESTA dinner.

Leader RM followed up by expounding on the details of their hiatus.

“Gathering like this today and shooting content, I’m glad we’re BTS… What would I do if we weren’t BTS?” RM asked.

During the indefinite hiatus, members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook will each focus on individual activities.

“We have to accept that we’ve changed,” RM said.

“For me, it was like the group BTS was within my grasp until ‘On’ and ‘Dynamite,’ but after ‘Butter’ and ‘Permission to Dance,’ I didn’t know what kind of group we were anymore.”

The leader, who produced many BTS hits, admitted that the once meaningful songwriting process has become complicated for him.

“But it was like that was gone now. I don’t know what kind of story I should tell now,” RM said.

Meanwhile, shares of the group’s label, HYBE, have significantly dropped by 27.5 percent following the news.
