“Grecale” takes the name of a north-easterly Mediterranean wind.
The full-electric Maserati Grecale is a new SUV that uses every powertrain from conventional combustion to hybrid engines as the first of its kind in company history.
Three versions of the Grecale are available at launch: GT, Modena, and Trofeo.
Grecale takes its name from a north-easterly Mediterranean wind, and it is indeed a force to be reckoned with. The GT equips a four-cylinder 300-horsepower mild hybrid, the Modena packs a four-cylinder 330-horsepower mild hybrid, and the Trofeo boasts a 530-horsepower V6.
While the GT targets world citizens with fashion consciousness, the Modena is marketed toward nature lovers with free time. The Trofeo, meanwhile, is said to represent pure adrenaline for buyers focused on performance.
“The design of a Maserati is always about visual longevity… But a Maserati is never just about style. It’s equally about performance. And so our engineers again are delivering perfect weight balance allowing for outstanding handling in any situation,” Maserati vice president of design Klaus Busse said during Grecale’s global premiere on March 22.
Internally, the Grecale features Sonus faber audio system with 3D sound and up to 21 speakers, Maserati’s largest 12.3-inch central screen, a smaller 8.8-inch comfort display with extra control and a new digital clock face, the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system, and heads-up display.
Additionally, five configurable drive modes consist of Comfort, GT, Sport, Off-Road, and the Trofeo-exclusive Corsa option.
The Maserati Grecale will be available in the second half of 2022.
“It is in a way like driving in a new movie every day,” Busse concluded.
