Wildly Alluring: 'Don’t Worry Darling' Will Have Its World Premiere at Venice Film Festival - Arts & Culture

Olivia Wilde’s much-awaited psychological thriller stars Florence Pugh alongside Harry Styles in what may be the pop sensation’s most compelling role yet.

Directed by Olivia Wilde, Don’t Worry Darling is set in a 1950’s utopian community in California featuring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan. Wilde previously described the concept as “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of imagination,” according to Variety.

The feature follows an American couple living in the seemingly perfect community called Victory and the conflict unfolds as the wife played by Pugh becomes more and more suspicious about the company her husband works for.
Per Deadline, the drama was confirmed for an Out of Competition slot at the Venice Film Festival running from August 31 to September 10.

Wilde said in a statement that she is “honored and thrilled that Don’t Worry Darling will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival,” adding that when “we dreamed of making this movie, we imagined Venice as our ultimate goal, and we can hardly believe it’s really happening!”

Moreover, she shared, “From our cast—led by the formidable Florence Pugh and Harry Styles—to the design of this world and the kinetic cinematography, the film was crafted for viewing in the collective setting of the theatrical experience.”

Wilde talks about actor Pine in an Instagram post, saying “how good he is in this movie.” In addition, she says, “I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for the excitement out there for the movie so far. I promise you will not be disappointed by this extraordinary cast and crew.”

Wilde directed her first full-length feature, Booksmart in 2019, a coming-of-age comedy. She also directed Wake Up, a short film in 2020, featuring Margaret Qualley as a woman recovering from amnesia, rediscovering her humanity in an increasingly digital world.

Meanwhile, Styles who has previously acted in Dunkirk and Eternals has fans eagerly anticipating his performance in Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman.

Don’t Worry Darling will be out on the silver screen starting September 23, 2022.
