Where to Buy: Ingredient-First Skincare According to Your Desired Results - Mirror,Mirror

With more people are reaching for skincare brands based on ingredients over brand names, we recommend products you can try for your healthiest skin yet.

In this series, we look at what’s trending and notice what people are reaching their wallets for. We recommend which luxury products are worth trying and can satiate your retail therapy needs from fashion to beauty to food and tech.

Sometimes, it isn’t easy to find the right products for your skin for skincare. Especially since the rise of glass-skinned beauty influencers, you might have made a few purchases under their suggestion.

It’s a whole process of trial and error that can leave you with jars that are less than half used. With that said, more people understand the importance of what’s inside skincare formulas beyond nice packaging and hyped-up brand names.

Luxury online retailer Net-a-Porter’s global beauty director Newby Hands noticed this starting in 2019. “[Customers are] seeking [active ingredients] that do a specific job. Rather than having one super cream that promises to do a lot, they’re personalizing their skincare regimen with the specific products they need,” he told Vogue Business.

At the same time, Rachel Horsefield, chief executive of THG Beauty, said last week that they saw searches for ingredients climbing “rapidly.”

“Particularly within the skincare category, growing over 229 percent year on year,” she continues.

But how do you learn about ingredients suitable for your skin type? It’s as simple as a dermatologist visit or even a quick Google search!

So here are products using Vitamin C, Niacinamide (Vitamin B-3), PHA., and BHA (hydroxy or fruit acid and peeling beta hydroxy acid) as their hero ingredients. These components are suitable for all skin types, so you can decide which result you prefer. They may help you achieve your healthiest skin yet that’s glowing, blemish-free, and youthful.

Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid or vitamin C is a powerful natural antioxidant that can brighten your skin. It’s important because even with sunscreen, sun exposure can cause damaging free radicals resulting in skin that’s dull.

To maintain a healthy glow, you can use Sunday Riley’s C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum or Tatcha’s Violet-C Brightening Serum. More than brightening, both products say it can reduce dark spots and minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B-3)

Vitamin B-3 or niacinamide is known for its “calming” effects. It’s an essential nutrient vital for skin health. It may also lessen flare-ups from skin conditions like eczema and acne. For more common concerns lie dryness, discoloration, and aging; the vitamin can help by increasing cell regeneration on the surface.

SkinCeuticals and Peter Thomas Roth offer skincare that means to firm, even out, and strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier.

PHAs and BHAs

With their many acronyms, acids for skincare can get intimidating to get into. And you might think they’re harsh for the skin, but BHAs (poly-hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids) can even be used for sensitive skin.

The latter doesn’t penetrate the skin (due to its larger molecular size than other acids), so it works on the surface.

This makes it gentler than other chemical exfoliants used for hydration and maintaining collagen. While BHAs include salicylic acid, a compound commonly used for fighting acne and tightening pores. Their results include exfoliation to clear away buildup from dust and pollution.

Shani Darden’s Lactic Acid Exfoliating Serum can be for those looking to tighten their pores. Peter Thomas Roth’s Acne Medication may treat acne, blackheads, and whiteheads while pores.
