What You Missed: The Sweet Reunion Between Nicole Kidman and Zoë Kravitz - Trending

Amidst all the Oscars drama, one touching moment happened behind the scenes.

While all everyone could talk about after the Oscars was The Punch Seen Around The World, here was a heartwarming moment most people missed: the reunion between Big Little Lies co-stars Nicole Kidman and Zoë Kravitz.

Kidman, nominated for Best Actress for her role as Lucille Ball in the biopic Being The Ricardos, and Kravitz, last seen as Catwoman in the latest iteration of The Batman, also have a more touching connection: after a contentious divorce with Tom Cruise, Kidman dated and was engaged to Kravitz’ father. You know him as Lenny: singer-songwriter and rock star.

Lenny Kravitz was Kidman’s landlord, and according to news reports, the two started dating around 2002. They tried very hard to keep the relationship a secret and while no one knows when exactly they broke up, by June 2006, Kidman was married to country star Keith Urban.

In 2007, she revealed that she had been engaged to another man before Urban. It just wasn’t right,” Kidman told Vanity Fair. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready … I get engaged and I get married — that’s my thing. I don’t want to date. I’m interested in a very, very deep connection.”

The identity of this man remained secret until Kidman finally confirmed who it was in 2017 while promoting Big Little Lies: “Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family! I love Lenny; he’s a great guy,” she told The EDIT.

Despite being one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets, it still caused a stir, and Kravitz (Zoë) said as much when she told the same publication. “I think she forgot that no one knew that.”

According to Kravitz (whose mom is the ageless Lisa Bonet), Kidman was an amazing almost step-mom: “I hadn’t seen her in a long time before Big Little Lies, but there was a point where we were all kind of living together. I was about 13, and she would take me to see movies; she was so nice to me.”

Over the years, Kidman and her nearly-husband maintained a friendly relationship, seen in photos when they ran across each other at events like the Country Music Television Awards (CMT) in 2013 and the Hollywood Film Awards in 2016.

Lenny Kravitz was happy that his ex and his daughter ended up working together. “I thought it was very interesting that they ended up on the same show,” he told Andy Cohen on his show “Watch What Happens Live. “And Zoe hadn’t seen Nicole since she was younger, so it was beautiful that they got to know each other as adults and make this great show together.”
