Virtual to Reality: McLaren’s $3.6 Million Solus GT Takes Its Concept From a Video Game Hypercar - Play

There will exclusively ever be 25 Sous GTs ever made.

McLaren unveiled its real-life version of the Solus GT at California’s Quail car show in Monterey. Initially, the concept car was featured in the racing simulation game Gran Turismo Sport. 

According to the British luxury automotive manufacturer, there will exclusively ever be 25 Sous GTs ever made. The model is a single-seater with supercar and hypercar developments—which is only legal to drive on race tracks. Its 5.2-liter V10 engine revs beyond 10,000rpm and generates more than 840 horsepower. 

There are at least four different color combinations and finishes available for the Solus GT.

Interestingly, the entire car weighs less than 1,000 kilograms (the average weight of an average-sized car). In addition, it can generate 1,200 kilograms of downforce, which measures how much vertical aerodynamic load is created by a Formula 1 car’s aerodynamic surfaces.

The model is a single-seater with supercar and hypercar developments—which is only legal to drive on race tracks.

Per McLaren, it’s the closest experience to driving a Formula 1 car you can get from a commercial automobile. There are at least four different color combinations and finishes available for the model.

McLaren Racing was founded in 1964. Since then, the manufacturers and team drivers have won 20 World Championships and more than 180 races.
