Valentine’s day is all about celebrating love, and that doesn’t matter where you are. However, if you want a break from the busy Metro, it’s a ample excuse to take a long drive or short plane ride to enjoy the holiday.
Over Valentine’s weekend, take your partner to restaurants that don’t only serve great cuisine, but of course, provide a romantic ambiance.
From Tagaytay to Boracay, here are five restaurants worth considering for February 14.

Antonio’s – Tagaytay
Tonyboy Escalante, the owner, and chef at Antonio’s, was awarded the Manitowoc Restaurateur of the Year at the World Gourmet Summit in 2014. Escalante started his Tagaytay establishment through his travels, he noticed that some “finer restaurants” were not in cities, but in rural settings. In effect, he brings the same concept to the Philippines.
Antonio’s menu includes decadent opinions like the Truffled Foie Gras Potato Tempura and Suckling Pig Confit. For a table for two, you can share the 40-Days Dry Aged Charcoal Grilled Angus Prime Ribeye Steak. It also comes with Organic Green Salad, the Soup of the Day, your choice of dessert, and coffee or tea.
Piccolo Padre – Pampanga
Located in Angeles, Pampanga, Piccolo Padre serves fine dining favorites from fresh lobster to lamb and pasta to risotto. In fact, the menu takes inspiration from “home-cooked meals” from food cities Milan, Sicily, and Venice.
The latter inspires the restaurant’s interiors, specifically from Venice’s Piazza San Marco, known as one of the city’s most romantic spots.
Rima – Boracay
If you’re planning Boracay getaway, you’d want your date spots to be memorable. Perched on Shangri-La Boracay’s expensive property away from the island’s more populated areas, Rima offers full-panoramic views. Try to get there by sunset to see Boracay’s famous skies from a unique perspective.
The Mediterranean menu offers Octopus with Saffron Sorbet, Lobster with Goat Cheese, and a Rum Baba infused with Don Papa Rum. In addition, Rima offers a “five-star” wine list and many cocktail options.
Cicada by Circa 1900 – Cebu
Over at Cebu, Cicada by Circa 1900 is a tapas bar with a relaxed setting. It’s set inside a “turn-of-the-century-house” and offers eight signature cocktails. The menu features a fusion of east meets west dishes like their Thai Fish Cakes and Asian Coleslaw on a Baguette and Thai BBQ Chicken Pizza with Brie and Chili.
Firefish – Coron
On another island, in Coron, you can consider going to one of its top resort’s seafood restaurants. Club Paradise Palawan’s Firefish restaurant serves a menu with local and international dishes amid a cozy atmosphere. Other than their regular menu featuring Filipino specialties, there are also “Burger Library” and vegan menus to choose from.
If you want a more intimate evening away from other guests, you can ask Club Paradise’s staff to set up an exclusive dinner by the beach.
