When we think of style icons from royal families, the British noble clan’s names spring to mind. From Prince Diana’s influential off-duty athleisure style to Duchess Kate Middleton’s love for pairing high street brands like Zara with English brands such as Hope, the world’s most famous royals get the bulk of the attention for what they wear.

However, there are many other fashionable women with royal status from outside the mainstream. Here are seven crown royals that have built fashion brands, attained fashion design degrees, and are Fashion Week regulars who merge their love for fashion with their duties as nobility.

Princess Alessandra De Osma of Hanover

De Osma became royalty when she married Hanonver’s Prince Christian in 2005. As someone in the fashion industry since she was 16, when she signed with Ford Models, the 33-year-old completed a master’s degree in fashion and business management from the University of Navarra.

In 2018, De Osma put her fashion degree to use when she launched her handbag brand Moi & Sass with creative director Moira Laporta.

Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath

When her husband, Viscount Weymouth Ceawlin, assumes his father’s title, Thynn will become Britain’s first marchioness that’s a person of color. Thynn is born to a Nigerian father and an English mother and wears many hats while in a royal position.

Thynn is a chef, model, dancer, and contributing fashion editor for British Vogue and Huffington Post. When she’s not in striking ball gowns while assuming royal duties, Thynn runs to stay fit to keep up with her two young kids.

Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand

The only daughter of Thailand’s King Vajiralongkorn took up fashion design at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. After graduating, the princess launched Sirivannavari and showcased its debut collection at Paris Fashion Week by Pierre Balamain. She’s also a PFW regular attendee and has been in the audience of Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Christian Dior, and Chloe.

Impressively, the designer is also an accomplished athlete. Nariratana is an equestrian trained at the International Moniteur d’Equitation, Le Cadre Noir de Saumur in France. And in a professional stint, she competed in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games for badminton and won gold with her team.

Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece

Greece’s princess is the daughter of American Billionaire Robert W. Miller and became crown royalty in 1995 when she married Prince Pavlos. In 2000, when she was pregnant with her third child, Marie-Chantal founded her namesake childrenswear brand, which offers pieces after her inclination to timeless design.

As a supporter of French couture houses, the 52-year-old attends Jean-Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, and Valentino fashion shows.

Tengku Puteri Ilyana of Malaysia

The daughter of Malaysia’s Sultan Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah studied politics at the University of Nottingham in the UK. As a supporter of designers native to Malaysia, Illyana has close ties with Datuk Rizalman Ibrahim and frequently wears his creation to political events and royal gatherings.

Eleonore Von Habsburg of Austria

Von Habsburg is the great-granddaughter of Charles I of Austria and Zita of Bourbon-Parma, the last emperor and empress of Austria. In 2017, the 26-year-old walked the runways of Milan Fashion Week for Dolce and Gabbana. To try her hand in the design industry, Von Habsburg worked with Vienna-based jeweler Schullinwien this year. Titled the Ivy Collection, the royal’s contemporary designs consist of cuffs, earrings, and rings.

Princess Keisha Omilana of Nigeria

She’s another stylish woman who became a crown royal through marriage. In 2011, Olimana married Nigeria’s Prince Adekunle Adebayo in an intimate wedding in New York. The beauty model has appeared in ads for CoverGirl, Revlon, Pantene, L’Oreal, and Maybelline. In addition, she graduated from a fashion design course at a university in Chicago. Nowadays, the princess is running her own hair care line, “A Crown of Curls.”
