Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadritype

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadritype is the most complex timepiece in the history of the Reverso collection. With over six years of development, combining the expertise the famed Maison is known for; the watch is replete with innovations in new astronomical indications.

With 11 complications, including the perpetual calendar and minute repeater, this is the first wristwatch with four functioning display faces. Three of them (the synodic, draconic and anomalistic) display lunar information on the interior of the Reverso cradle.

This ensures the Hybris Mechanica Quadriptyque can foresee the probability of astronomical incidences on a global scale, such as super moons and eclipses. This is the first timepiece that can provide a deep, detailed reading of cosmic events.

Reverso Tribute Nonantième

The front dial of the Nonantième is a pink gold case that frames a silvery, sunray-touched dial with golden indexes and Dauphine hands. The lower half is a moon-phase display set within a circle by the small seconds counter. Underneath the marker for noon or midnight, there is a date display, surrounded by a filet of pink gold with the same look as the dial and case.

This classic aesthetic hides a surprise on the reverse side of the watch. Flipped over, the case covers a visual of complications, unlike anything ever seen on a Reverso. There are two circle-shaped apertures of different sizes that encroach the solid pink-gold case back, in a figure-eight arrangement. For the first time in a Reverso watch, the mini aperture shows a semi-jumping digital hour indication.

Below the hour, minutes are shown on a rotating disk slightly hidden by a three-quarter plate in blue, sprinkled with stars to show the sky. At a small circle in the center, the golden sun and moon are depicted crossing a horizon to show night and day.

Reverso Tribute Small Seconds in Green

Since the creation of the original Reverso in 1931, Jaeger-LeCoultre has reinterpreted the timepiece in various dials and case sizes, keeping the integrity of the original design. In 2016, the brand started to release Tribute models in styles reminiscent of the original watch from 1931. Back then, colored dials were rare in high watchmaking, making the Reverso stand out.

This year, the Maison presents the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds in Green. The combination of sunray-brushed lacquer dial and leather strap brings to mind the deep green pine forests that are abundant in Vallée de Joux, the home of Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The signature design elements of the Reverso Tribute are featured: hours are marked by indexes, rather than numerals. The faceted shapes are in the style of Dauphine hands, adding depth to the lacquered surface. The lower half of the dial has a circular track in the small seconds’ display, juxtaposing the straight edges of the dial and case. There is a sunray pattern on the inside of the cradle, which is seen when the case is flipped.

In tradition, the back of the reversible case is an ideal canvas for personalization with a motif or engraving. The owner can decide to hide the customized design or to switch the case so it becomes visible at the front.

The strap is made in collaboration with Casa Fagliano, a celebrated brand in the sport of polo for their handmade boots, which reconnects the Reverso from its roots in the game.
