The Peak of Luxury Dining Experiences - Food & Travel

Guests knew they were in for a night of #Living Grand when the elevator operator began singing Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon while being whisked us to the 62nd floor of the Grand Hyatt Manila. When the steel doors opened, The Peak was revealed. The newest food and drink concept in Metro Manila, The Peak impressively offers a luxury experience like no other, incorporating a premium restaurant, music lounge, and busy night spot bars all under one roof.

Upon entering the space, it is easy to be taken away by The Peak’s beautiful interiors. Tokyo-based international design firm Nao Taniyama & Associates were commissioned to design The Peak’s interiors. Each room was designed to subtly showcase elements of local culture. For instance, the main receiving area makes a bold design statement with walls reflective of traditional Filipino tattoo patterns. The Peak Bar, which is right off the entrance hall, features a glorious view of the Manila skyline (the bar sits at the highest point of BGC), and is well appointed with communal tables and sofas, best for gathering around with close friends. The view is best enjoyed with a glass of champagne and fresh oysters imported from Belgium.

Walk deeper into the large space and you will find two whiskey bar destinations. The first is inspired by the traditional, decorated with dark woods, heavy leather and gorgeous Filipino wooden wall fixtures that almost seems like an art instillation. A good glass of whiskey is recommended while enjoying a cigar, which are hand rolled to your liking right before your eyes. For those looking to celebrate in private, the whiskey bar is equipped with private suites upon request. The second whiskey room is the polar opposite of the first in terms of feel. It is decorated in mostly white and beige tones and furnishings. Inspired by penthouse living, it feels as if you are drinking at the apartment of stylish friend with extremely fine taste.

Although The Peak bars and whiskey lounges are already sprawling in size, it was a surprise to see two staircases leading downstairs to the grill restaurant. At the left side of the space, busy chefs were preparing gastronomical treats in a large open kitchen. Guests are able to personally see their food prepared just the way they like it. Spearheaded by Grand Hyatt’s Chef de Cuisine Manuel Baenziger, the quality of food at the grill is top notch. Options range from servings of sweet Maryland Crab Cake to juicy Australian Wagyu Rib Eyes. Pair dinner with your choice of The Peak’s extensive selection of new and old wines. Al fresco dining facing the cityscape is also possible when asked to be seated at the open air terrace.

Good food and drink options, an impressive view, lush interiors, and an extensive bar list is not all The Peak offers. Next to the grill restaurant, a floor to ceiling wooden door leads into a speakeasy-type music lounge, where live entertainment awaits. International band Legacy rocks it out the entire evening, singing their renditions of hit songs. The versatile music group has a full repertoire of tunes to play based on the crowd’s mood. One minute they are playing the latest Top 40 hits, and the next, they are electrifying guests with Queen’s We Are the Champions.

“We are excited to welcome guests and to show them what we have created for them; because we believe that The Peak is best explained through experience. From interiors, dining, and live entertainment, there will always be something new waiting to be discovered,” said Benjamin Schertzer, manager of The Peak. Discover The Peak yourself, which has officially been open to the public since last Sunday. Sometimes a fine meal, a cold drink, and fun live entertainment is all it takes to remind ourselves to sit back from our stressful lives and truly enjoy #LivingGrand. The Peak is the ideal place to do just that.
