Green Light: What’s Next for the Squid Game Cast? - K LIFESTYLE

According to Netflix, the blockbuster series Squid Game has reached 111 million viewers, making the show their biggest launch ever.

All the attention that the Netflix show Squid Game—which has so far reached 111 million viewers, has upped the clamor for a season 2 and what the cast will do next. Personally, I don’t think there should be a season 2, because most Korean series don’t really go down that route (except for Hospital Playlist, or Penthouse).

But I am excited to watch the cast. Most of this charismatic lot of actors and actresses have been working in Korea for a long time, so to see them shine on the international stage has been heartwarming.

Here’s what’s next for the cast:

Lee Jung-jae

Lee Jung-jae, who plays lead character Seong Gi-hun (456) is set to star in two soon-to-be released movies, Wiretap, and Hunt (also his directorial debut). Wiretap, based on the 2009 Hong Kong film Overhead, will focus on a police force wiretapping a company suspected of stock manipulation.

Filming was set to begin in 2017, but co-star Kim Woo-bin (The Heirs, Uncontrollably Fond) was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, so as of now there is no release date, but with that cast, it’s looking to be a hit.

Meanwhile, Hunt combines Lee and Jung Woo-sung (another great actor) as elite spies for the National Security Agency, chasing a North Korean agent in South Korea. If you want more Lee Jung-jae on Netflix, check out Chief of Staff, in which he stars with Shin Mina (currently on Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha)

Wi Ha-joon

Cutie Wi Ha-joon (Hwang Jun-ho), who doesn’t know if his character is actually dead or not, will next appear on TV screens in Bad and Crazy with Goblin’s Lee Dong-wook.

If you want your Wi Ha-joon fix right now, he has more shows on Netflix: Something in the Rain (with Crash Landing on You star Son Yej-in and Jung Hae-in, soon to star in Snowdrop, with Blackpink’s Jisoo), Romance is a Bonus Book with Lee Na-young and Lee Jong-suk (Secret Garden, While You Were Sleeping and the upcoming Big Mouth with SNSD’s Yoona and Vincenzo’s Kwak Dong-yeon) and 18 Again (a remake of the Matthew Perry and Zac Efron Movie 17 Again).

Jung Ho-yeon

Can you believe Jung Ho-yeon’s efforts in Squid Game (as Kang Sae-byeok, 067) was her first as an actress? The model was a two-time contestant on Korea’s Next Top Model (finishing as a runner-up during her second try) and has walked in shows for Marc Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Max Mara and Fendi and appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Love and W and was also on Gap and Sephora campaigns.

In 2017, she was a Louis Vuitton exclusive for Paris Fashion Week and this month, thanks to the success of the show, she was named a Global House Ambassador. It’s Jung Ho-yeon’s world, we’re just living in it.

Her boyfriend is Lee Dong-hwi, who you may know as Ryu Dong-ryong in Replay 1988 and Detective Yong-ho in Extreme Job, the second most-viewed film in South Korean movie history. We love an A-List couple!

Gong Yoo

Sure, yes, Gong Yoo was only on the show for five minutes, but it’s Gong Yoo! His next TV series is The Silent Sea, with Bae Doona and Lee Joon. What delicious eye-candy!

If you want more Gong Yoo eye-candy on Netflix, watch Goblin, starring him, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, BTOB’s Sungjae and featuring the world’s greatest OST, the legendary Stay With Me feat. EXO’s Chanyeol and Punch. Stream on Spotify! Yes, I had to shoehorn that in here.

The Dalgona Maker Who Made All That Dalgona Candy

The Dalgona Man is now famous, and you can now visit his stall and try and win the game. Don’t worry, you won’t die if you (likely) fail.

You can find him at dress : 17, Daehak-ro 10-gil, at Hyehwa Station Exit 2 (In Front of EDIYA COFFEE), Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea.
