Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, the luxury hotel that was recently awarded a five-star rating by the Forbes Travel Guide, always goes big for holidays. This February, they have prepared new dishes at their signature restaurant Lung Hin that will help usher in good luck and prosperity during the Chinese New Year. Of course, this includes their staple glutinous rice cakes which symbolizes good luck.
Two options are available for the rice cake (nian gao). Choose between the brown sugar-flavored gold bar (which are available in boxes of one and two pieces) or the traditional round variant (available in orange or brown sugar flavors). Box sets beginning at PHP 798.00.
Those looking to begin the Chinese New Year with an abundant table can choose to dine at fine-dining restaurant Lung Hin for their celebrations. Chinese Executive Chef Terry Lai has prepared two special Cantonese menus for the occasion. Specials created for the holiday include a suckling pig cold cuts combination platter, steamed live garoupa with minced garlic in supreme soy sauce, and braised abalone with fish maw in oyster sauce.
Other events have also been scheduled at the hotel to reign in the Year of the Earth Pig. The Feng Shui Master, Chau Kam Shing will be present on February 5, 2019 at 11 AM at the hotel’s ground level to bless guests with good luck. He will lead a ceremonial blessing ritual, followed by the traditional dragon and lions dance.
