Bottles from the winery will be paired with a menu by Chef Xavier Castello.
Wine lovers need not wait long to treat themselves to a night of delicious bites paired with great wine as The Peninsula Manila is having a wine dinner celebration in Old Manila the evening of June 1, 2022.
The hotel’s executive chef Xavier Castello is creating a five-course dinner in Old Manila complementing one of Spain’s most celebrated wineries, Bodegas Emilio Moro.
A leading wine maker from the Castile and León region’s “Golden Mile” whose passion for winemaking stretches back to more than a century, the dinner—from appetizer to dessert—will be paired with a classic Polvorete Godello, Bierzo white wine, along with a fresh El Zarzal Godello, Bierzo and the bodega’s premium red Emilio Moro, Ribera del Duero and the organic red wine La Felisa, Ribera del Duero.
According to the company’s website, the history of Bodegas Emilio Moro dates back three generations. “The grandfather of the third generation of Emilio Moro was born in 1891, and his son, who also carried the same first name, was born in 1932. Both were born into a wine growing environment, surrounded by vineyards,” it reads.
In their hometown of Pesquera de Duero in Valladolid, they grew up treading grapes, and the love of wine has been passed on until the third generation, the current managers of the winery.
The lovely five-course Old Manila degustation menu is priced at P6,000, inclusive of taxes. Dinner on June 1, 2022, starts at 6;30 pm. Pre-paid reservations are required as there is very limited seating.
