Maggie Wilson-Consunji was once a reigning beauty queen. Today, she is the queen of her home, watching over the kingdom in Taguig with Victor as her king, and the crown prince Connor. Royal subjects include three dogs, two cats, a turtle, a tortoise and a rabbit. Unlike her beauty queen days, she has traded in her ball gowns for Boho chic outfits, for comfort. Weekends are now spent cooking for loved ones instead of rigorously training to walk in four-inch stilettoes. She happily walks around the house in her bare feet.
For this year’s Home and Design Issue, Maggie invited Lifestyle Asia into her home to talk about brightening up her living room with Hermès scarves and other design inspirations for home decorating. Moving into the three-story home in 2015, the Consunji’s built their palace from the ground up. The large house includes a high-ceiling living room decorated with eclectic furniture that the family collected from travels abroad, an Instagram-worthy lanai by the pool, a large kitchen ideal for entertaining, the master’s suite with a spa-like bathroom, and a home gym to keep the young mom and her hubby in shape.
“I’ve always enjoyed decorating and I also like to believe that I do have an eye for it. When my husband told me we were going to build a new home, I decided to take up interior design so I can understand the technically of it all. Like how to design a space that has a story, that’s functional but is also visually stimulating—spaces that are beautiful and best represent who we are and what we love,” she said to us in the current cover story. The Lifestyle Asia March 2018 issue looks at home and design stories in the Philippines and abroad. Apart from a cover story featuring Maggie Wilson-Consunji, we also flew to New York City to shoot the Upper East Side home of Loida Nicolas-Lewis, which faces the impressive Jackie Onassis Reservoir. We also compiled a list of Palaces for Rent for your next holiday abroad, and the most Haunted Houses, Castles, and Estates around the world. In addition, Lifestyle Asia Editor-in-Chief Anna Sobrepeña flew to Hong Kong to witness the opening of the new Hermès Maison for this month’s LA Insider. Lastly, we look back on the life of Filipino National Artist Napoleon Abueva in our Looking Back section.
