This full tuition fee scholarship with maintenance support totals 35,000 pounds.

The London institution targets “extraordinarily talented, but financially restricted” Black British students in any School of Design program.

Recipients will also benefit from industry experience and networking opportunities. They will receive support from British fashion designer Samuel Ross and creative industries partners during the course of their studies.

The late designer’s wife, Shannon Abloh, helped establish the scholarship alongside the United States-based Fashion Scholarship Fund.

“Virgil’s creativity and generosity will continue to have an impact at the RCA through this remarkable scholarship. I continue to be inspired by Virgil and believe that his curiosity and entrepreneurialism will live on. Inspiring generations of innovators to come,” chancellor Sir Jony Ive said.
