Designer Chris Nick Delos Reyes created his Fall 2021 collection anticipating a world returning to pre-pandemic normalcy. With inspiration from Studio 54 and its glitterati patrons, “Chis Nick,” as he is more popularly known, merges the glamorous notes with “the Y2K ‘It’ girl.”
“I am known to have an obsession for wardrobe staples, but this season I decided to add bright red and stark white looks into the mix,” Delos Reyes says. “Relatively simple in cut but never with impact.”
The 2021 MEGA Fashion Awards Designer To Watch recipient adds that he loves sharp tailoring that tends to reveal a lot of skin on the technical aspect of garment creation. But in contrast to this, his latest collection leans on being somewhat modest but “still oozing undeniable sex appeal.”
A hopeful future
While he was always fascinated with fashion growing up, the exclusivity of glamour fascinated him the most. The fashion and design marketing graduate shares that although he tried tackling different styles when he was a novice designer, Delos Reyes would always go back to what he feels “truly embodies”—class.
In relation to his inclination to luxurious design, Delos Reyes says that he keeps that aspect in all his collections consistent but “never overdone.”
In his Fall 2021 press release, he acknowledges that the trend of staying home will remain as the pandemic persists.
However, Delos Reyes shares that the “Chris Nick woman” is already itching to put on her most refined pieces. He describes the woman who wears his pieces as daring, fun, and sensual in three words.
In his statement, Delos Reyes says that this collection is a hopeful look at both fashion and the future. “[It’s about] envisioning the light at the end of the tunnel, but at this time with glamour and flashing lights just as bright,” he says.
