Odd Couple: Belgian Beers will be Paired with Chef Bettina Arguelles’s Filipino Pica-Pica in this Virtual Tasting - LA Wine & Dine

The artisanal beers included in the event were curated from Brouwerij Van Steenberge, a 147-year-old brewery from East Flanders.

The Tasting Club’s next event will be an exploration of Belgian beer, and how to pair it with dishes that have distinctly Filipino flavors.

Aptly called Belgian Beer Exploration with the Filipino Touch, the tasting event is done in partnership with specialty and craft beer importer Two Belgians, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the brewery Brouwerij Van Steenberge, and the Belgian-Filipino Business Club.

For this tasting, five artisanal beers were curated from Brouwerij Van Steenberge, which was established in 1874 in the Belgian province of East Flanders.

“The purpose of the tasting is to appreciate and understand how the different types of artisanal beers are produced in Belgium,” says Kevin Charuel, The Tasting Club founder. “With the rise in popularity of craft beers in the Philippines, we are very excited to share about some of the finest artisanal beers produced in the world.”

This tasting will be also unique as each beer will be paired with Filipino fusion pica-pica prepared specially for the occasion by Chef Bettina Arguelles, executive chef of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

“Pairing gourmet beers with fine dishes incorporating Filipino ingredients will definitely be a special tasting experience for beer connoisseurs and foodies” Charuel adds.
