Next Chapter: Riccardo Tisci Exits Burberry While Daniel Lee Steps In - The Scene

“Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy,” Lee said in a statement.

After five years at Burberry’s helm as chief creative officer, Riccardo Tisci is exiting the British house. Now, 36-year- old Daniel Lee is taking the spot after formerly creative directing Italian label Bottega Veneta.

Lee left Bottega Veneta last November after a “joint decision to end their collaboration.” However, it raised eyebrows as the UK native helped the brand utilize luxury hype culture. Paris-born designer Matthieu Blazy succeeded Lee’s post at Bottega.

“I am excited about working closely with him and I am confident he will have the impact we are aiming for in this next phase, supported by our talented and experienced teams.”

Historic heritage

Tisci’s last collection with Burberry was unveiled on September 26, during the rescheduled show due to Queen Elizabeth’s death. Rumors were already going around that the show may be his final one with the brand. Those present were friends of Burberry and Tisci, including Kanye West, Anna Wintour, British rapper Headie One, and model and creative entrepreneur Luka Sabbat.

“I am honored to join Burberry as chief creative officer. Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy,” Lee said in a statement.

I am very excited to be returning to London, a city that champions pioneering creativity and that continues to inspire me.”
