Mirèio’s Brunch Society in Raffles Makati Is a Club Worth Joining - Dine

Get your fill of foie gras and salmon benedict at this Sunday brunch buffet.

From the odd to the outrageous, buffets have taken many forms in today’s diverse culinary arena. However, while working to impress with the quantity of their fare, many fall short in the quality of its taste. A novel buffet with a unique concept is rare to come by, let one that they can actually pull off, which is why it comes with immense excitement for me to be writing about Mirèio’s Brunch Society.

A selection of Mireio’s Brunch Society dishes

A meal type that is wide-ranging as it is eye-catching, images of eggs benedict and sweet pastries come to mind often with a glass of champagne or white wine when imagining brunch. Simple enough to wrap your head around, the brasserie restaurant of Raffles Makati trades its usual Provençal menu for a full brunch buffet every Sunday noon. It’s an enticing premise, especially when converted to a buffet, and as I’ve already said—pulling off the concept is what matters most. So, with an open mind and an empty stomach, I arrive at the exact of noon ready for some usual brunch fare—and to my surprise it was anything but.

As we were escorted to our table, we were given a quick tour of all the stations. Those I will highlight include the foie gras, tartare, risotto, and ravioli station, and of course, the desserts. From just the first two stations mentioned, it is clear that this Sunday buffet didn’t come to play. The foie gras station offers Chocolate & Hazelnut Foie Gras, for that sweet and deeply rich taste. You can also have it as a Foie Gras Confit in Spiced Red Wine Sauce that gives a bright complement to the foie gras. The foie is prepared, sliced, and seared on the spot so you never miss any second of its taste. The tartare station offers three kinds of fish with salmon, tuna, and tanigue. Each fish provides a different profile that will fit whatever mood you’re in. With all tartare options prepared a la minute, it is best to enjoy the dish immediately once served to really savor the flavors of the fish. With the risotto and ravioli station, you get a mushroom risotto filled with the nutty savory profile of the mushroom carried by the tender chew of the rice. The ravioli is filled with a tangy cheese filling which you can pair with a tomato or white sauce to your liking. Lastly, with their desserts you get a grand selection of bite-sized treats and sweets to choose from. The Calamansi Meringue Eclair is a zesty lightly sweet bite while the assortment of macarons provide a colorful selections flavors. A fine offering of chocolate treats also give the dessert station a more rounded roster, and if you want a healthier sweet ending they have an assortment of seasonal fruits right next to the decadent treats.

Other notable stations include the generous grazing table section with its multitude of European cheeses and deli meats. The Carving and Roasting Station with a juicy New Zealand Leg of Lamb and a guilt-inducing but irresistible Porchetta with its crisp crackling skin. Their fresh seafood selection is also worth noting with slipper lobster, Manila clams, tiger prawns, to name a few.
