Known for designing numerous red carpet stunners and captivating haute couture, Michael Cinco continues his legacy with a new collaboration. Partnering with Ballet Philippines to marry dance and fashion. For the dance company’s 50th anniversary, Cinco designed a 50-piece Swan Lake-themed couture. Incorporating intricate embroidery and materials such as jewels, beads, and crystals to the dresses. Like his previous creations, this collection will certainly show the Dubai-based fashion designer’s eye and talent for show-stopping glamor.
Many Hollywood celebrities and society figures like Victoria Swarovski have worn Cinco’s creations, the heiress of the Austrian luxury jewelry brand wore a breathtaking gown on her wedding day. The dress consists of a six-meter detachable train which Cinco shared took over 1,000 total hours to finish and weighed 100 lbs. 500,000 Swarovski crystals sewn onto the nude top made for a delicate yet impactful finish. This wedding dress is among the world’s most expensive wedding gowns. It reportedly costs around €1 million.
Among Filipino society, Dra. Vicki Belo has also donned Cinco at her own wedding. Belo wore a blush wedding gown with a three-meter long train of delicate French lace. Transparent and rose opal Swarovski crystals adorned the gown. She shared how Cinco gave her three other dresses to wear for the day: two to three for the ceremony and one for a photo shoot. Like Victoria and Vicki, wearing Cinco’s couture elevates a woman’s special day.
Anticipating the spectacle
This fall season, Michael is yet to present another of his riveting creations in partnership with Ballet Philippines (BP). The dance company will celebrate its Golden Anniversary on September 29 with a Gala Fashion Show. Style and dance enthusiasts anticipate the show for its theatrical concept as it marries dance with fashion. The runway will feature the 50-piece Swan Lake-themed couture collection of Michael Cinco. Former BP President and Head Chairperson of the anniversary gala Margie Moran shares, “We wanted something visual to inspire awe for both BP and Michael Cinco.”
The collaboration began when Margie met Cinco in Paris in 2017. They wanted to bring the two artistic disciplines together. “People can expect the gala fashion show to be a combination of the classic and the contemporary,” Margie adds. To add the element of dance and movement to the show, there will be a special dance performance of Alden Lugnasin featuring BP Principal Dancer Denise Parungao. Moran teases that the show will be “dramatic, glamorous, theatrical, and fantastic.”
Ballet Philippines’ 50th Anniversary Gala Fashion Show will be held on September 29, 2019, at Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom. For tickets and more information, visit https://ballet.ph/.
