Mansion for Rent: Aldo Gucci’s Home in House of Gucci Is Available for Booking on AirBnB - Lifestyle Asia

An overnight stay at the 16th-century home is P57,000.

House of Gucci, the dramatic biopic based on the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), the grandson of fashion designer Guccio Gucci, is not only star-studded—but is acted out on a lavish Italian set—including Villa Balbiano.

The home, which in the movie belongs to the character Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino), was built in the 16th century and is now available to book on Airbnb for a one-night stay in March 2022.

Priced at about P57,000 a night, the six-bedroom and six-bathroom mansion are one of the largest private residences in upscale resort spot Lake Como.

Unique antiques

Apart from the mesmerizing natural surroundings of Northern Italy, the property’s interiors boast a unique design. With decor sourced from luxury auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s, the centuries-old frescoes can be found throughout the home, including works by Baroque painters the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva.

The bathrooms stay consistent with the grand theme with marble details, gold gilded mirrors, and deep soaking tubs.

When it was initially built, Villa Balbiano was home to the Italian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic church Angelo Maria Durini in the 18th century. Cardinal Durini amassed an extensive art collection and acquired additional land to build a church, and at the time, it was a gathering place for Italian academics.

To help preserve the home’s historical features, which can still be enjoyed today, famed French interior designer Jacques Garcia helped modernize its areas.

However, you might want to take time outside the mansion to enjoy the other features a stay offers. There’s a private pier with a boathouse and sprawling gardens—if you’ve seen House of Gucci, the latter might make you feel like you’re in Aldo’s birthday party scene.

The gardens, which have awards from the British Society of Garden Designers, served as the setting where Maurizio and his new bride Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) arrived to reconnect with the Gucci family.
