While staying at home is still the best recourse in preventing the spread of the pandemic, we understand everyone’s desire and the local dining scene’s need to reopen. Fortunately, more and more of our favorite restaurants and establishments have started offering outdoor seating, which is generally considered a safer arrangement. Here are some of them:

Makati Street Meet at Rada
Restaurants along Rada and Leviste streets recently opened to al-fresco dining, a development that follow’s the city’s Makati Street Meet. Developed in 2017, the concept, which was initiated by Ayala Land, Make It Makati, and Makati Central Estate Association (MaCEA), has been in effect pre-pandemic at Paseo de Roxas on weekends. This time, Salcedo and Legaspi Village establishments like of Wildflour, Nikkei Nama Bar, Din Tai Fung, and Sarsa Kitchen + Bar are participating in the event, which is held twice a month.

Rockwell’s Streetside Dining
Since September last year, Rockwell started outdoor dining for its well-loved restaurants. From Friday to Sunday, the side streets of One Rockwell and Lopez Drive are closed off to make way for diners, with restaurants like Barcino, Ooma, a mano, Mamou, Nikkei, The Test Kitchen, and Grace Park involved. Even Power Plant Mall’s The Grid joins the pop-up—EDSA BDG, Spicebird, and The Sunny Side Cafe. The rest of The Grid’s tenants remain inside the mall but they are available for takeaway and delivery.
Hilton Manila and Sheraton Manila
If you prefer to take extra precautions in dining out, Resorts World Manila’s Hilton Manila and Sheraton Manila Hotel introduced Vubble Pods. These transparent bubble pods create an intimate setting for each table, enclosing them in an air-conditioned, well-ventilated ‘bubble.’ Each pod offers a sweeping view of the hotel’s Vega Poolside. Presently, there are six pods that are thoroughly and frequently sanitized. A maximum of four guests can stay inside for a minimum of three hours to an entire day. These Vubble Pods are open for guests daily.

Blackbird At The Nielson Tower
Named among Monocle’s 50 best restaurants in the world, Blackbird is known for its wonderful architecture. This includes its spacious al fresco area, which sits on the old tower’s former tarmac. Throughout the day, the menu sets change depending on the time, offering such popular dishes such as its dry-rubbed Wagyu hanger steak and Far East-based weekend brunch courses like Salmon and Smoked Trout Fish Cake.

Manila House
Filled with greens and contemporary art, the outdoor dining area of Manila House offers a wide view of the BGC skyline. The dining menu comprises local and continental dishes such as U.S. Angus rib-eye steak, caviar pasta, a 16-hour roasted beef belly with truffle cream sauce, which go well with its selection of spirits.
