Kenneth Cole’s latest Fall collection follows the theme of the Courageous Class for the fourth consecutive season. The line is inspired by “individuals who overcome life’s challenges to become the inspiring role models they were meant to be.” Shot in Brooklyn, New York by photographer Matthew Brookes, and a team of celebrated individuals working in the industry such as stylish Tracey Nicholson, hair stylish David von Cannon and makeup artist Chris Colbeck, the brand has produced a rugged-chic urban-inspired campaign that truly captures the spirit of our generation. In a world ruled by social media role models and party animals, Kenneth Cole rebels by casting young models who give back to society. We look at 3 rebellious things from the new campaign that make this Fall collection absolutely cool.
Power Dressing for the Youth
Short skirts and low-hemlines have been the preferred look by the youth of. Kenneth Cole has produced a set of urban, streetwear clothing that finds the ideal combination of fashionable, sexy and conservative. Be rebellious and fight recent trends with these looks that follows the brand’s “fearless voice for social justice.” The campaign has also commissioned the help of four young “role-model models” to get their message across. Corinne Fox, Casil McArthur, Chloe Nogaard and Nathaniel Dam all work in the crazy fashion industry, and yet focus solely on their own individual causes that include activism, empowerment, volunteering for the needy, and charity work. The idea of Kenneth Cole’s Courageous Class is that those who wear them it are involved with their communities. They care for one another and they face adversities as a united front, all while creating potential and opportunities for themselves.
You Can’t Deny the Neutrals
Recent trends have cited that fashion lovers wear bright color and over exaggerated prints. Kenneth Cole’s Courageous Class does the exact opposite, featuring neutral hues that are fashionable and wearable. Black leather jackets, grey turtlenecks, black and white stripped halter tops and metallic coats are eye-catching and visible throughout the imagery of the new campaign. The classic Kenneth Cole leather shoes also make an appearance, and is stunning. Some shoes have been converted into sneaker or boot format for empowering strides along downtown Manhattan.
Leather, Pleather and Everything in Between
James Dean wore a bright red jacket in Rebel Without a Cause. We wear leather, pleather and metallic to make a statement and work against the tide of bright colors and oversized logos. The Courageous Class don jackets in these materials as a form of armor. Not just for the cold streets of Fall but also as a crusader of good, all while looking like a high fashion model.
