Although you may not be driving Sean Connery’s classic silver Aston Martin 1963 DBB5, the brand has exciting news that will spark passion from car aficionados. The luxury British car brand is bringing back the DBS Superleggera name plate for the upcoming Super GT. The re-birth of the distinctive moniker is anticipated by lovers of Aston Martin, as it plays an important role in the brand’s heritage. Originally appearing in the William Towns-designed 1967 model, the DBS Superleggera nameplate has been synonymous to top automotive craftsmanship and exterior beauty for the last 50 years. It last appeared in 2007, when it was resurrected for Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman’s range-topping model.
“When you hear the name DBS Superleggera, you know what it is. It’s the definitive Aston Martin Super GT. It’s an icon, a statement and this one will be no different. We’ve pushed the boundaries of performance and design to give this car a distinct character and ensure its worthy of the heritage and weight that the name carries,” shared Reichman in a statement about the upcoming model, which is expected to be the pinnacle of sports cars.

Along with the inclusion of the iconic Superleggera nameplate, it is also reported that the vehicle will pay homage to the historic super lightweight construction technology of Touring.
