The three-floor facility known as The Hive is said to be the largest telco-neutral data center in the country with over 2,800 racks. According to an Inquirer report, the center costs about P5.1 billion.

Moreover, it has the capacity to house a minimum of 3,000 server racks of up to 45U rack height. This is supported by network interconnect capabilities, disaster recovery seats, as well as security and network operations centers.

“With the increased demand for digital services under the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the recent efforts to improve the nation’s connectivity and IT infrastructure, now is the perfect time to welcome hyperscalers and other large-scale partners to the Philippines,” Beeinfotech PH President and chief executive officer Reynaldo Huergas said in a press release.

The data center operator extended an invitation of colocation partnership to global hyperscalers seeking to capitalize on increased cloud demand.

“Telco-neutral data centers with significant and flexible rack space such as The Hive are suitable colocation facilities for hyperscalers since they enable enterprises to quickly scale resources and establish a local footprint without the arduous and time-consuming process of building a data center from scratch,” Huergas said.

The facility was first unveiled in August 2021. It claims the ability to host advanced solutions like AWS Outposts together with the delivery of enhanced cybersecurity services powered by Continent 8 (including BProtect DDoS Mitigation and BProtect SIEM).

Beeinfotech PH follows similar launches by PLDT, Globe Telecom, and Space DC, among others. The Hive’s opening is only part of the trend of data center operators capitalizing on strong market growth in the Philippines.

After all, the data center market in the Philippines is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 11.4% between 2021 and 2026. Investments are forecast to reach up to $535 million by 2026.
