Buckingham Palace assures the public that the Royal is only exhibiting mild, cold-like symptoms.
Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID over a week since marking her 70th year of ascension to the British throne. In the past two weeks, other members of the Royal Family have also contracted the disease, including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.

Others within the Windsor Castle team have also tested positive, as reported by CNN, and all infected are isolating. According to Buckingham Palace, the Queen, Prince Charles, and Camilla just have mild, cold-like symptoms and are expected to bounce back quite soon. All of the aforementioned were reported to have received their COVID vaccine last year, although no information about booster shots is currently available.
On February 6, 2022, the Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. Seven decades ago, she become sovereign of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms after her father King George VI’s passed away. This year’s festivities were set to culminate in a four-day celebration from June 2 to 5.
Given that this is such as important year, and taking the Queen’s age in to consideration, a lot of attention has been on her health. Late last year, she cancelled several public appearances because of medical issues that were not disclosed publicly. Since then, many of these appearances have been done via video, and, given her current status, this might be how things go for social engagements for the time being.
All communications and social media posts so far shows the Queen in high spirits, including a series of the royal beside her red dispatch box over the years on Ascension Day earlier this month.
A few days ago, she received Rear Admiral James Macleod at Windsor Castle as he relinquishes his post as Defense Services Secretary. Just yesterday, the Queen also approved a congratulatory message for the British women’s curling team as they won the only Gold so far for the nation at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The Royal is expected to continue “light” duties in the coming weeks. “She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all appropriate guidelines,” Buckingham Palace said.
