The feature called “Twitter Circle” works on a Tweet-by-Tweet basis. This means people will see a new option to share a Tweet with either their circle or full followers list.

“Sometimes you just want to talk to your people. That’s why we created Twitter Circle, a new way to Tweet to a smaller crowd,” Twitter posted on its blog.

Users can add up to 150 people to their Twitter Circle. Furthermore, they can edit their list and remove others without notifying them.

Tweets sent to one’s Twitter Circle will appear with a green badge underneath. These cannot be retweeted or shared, while replies will remain private even if one’s Twitter account is public.

Twitter began testing the feature in May, receiving an “overwhelmingly positive” response.

It has since made the feature available to all users on iOS, Android, and Twitter.com worldwide.
