Have a Slice: Homegrown Pizzerias a Mano, Crosta, and Wildflour Are Part of Asia’s Top 50 Awards 2022 - Food & Travel

Beyond pizza quality, the judging criteria also assess each restaurant’s ambiance, decor, service, and menu offerings.

A slice of great pizza does the trick when we think of comfort food. But while everyone has their preferences, like classic Italian or Detroit-style, fortunately, we have some of Asia’s best right here in Manila.

On August 6, the 50 Top Pizzas in the Asia-Pacific were awarded at The Peninsula in Bangkok, Thailand. Awarded the 32nd spot was Crosta Pizzeria, which serves Detroit and Sicilian pizzas with gluten-free or vegan options.

At number 38 is Wildflour, which serves oven-cooked flavors from Meat Lovers and Hawaiian to Vegetarian and Margherita. Landing at the 48th spot is a mano, a jaunt serving “fresh and faithful Italian” dishes. Their pizza menu houses ten variations, including Prosciutto e Rucola (tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, EVOO) and Tartufata (truffle cream, Fontina, buffalo mozzarella).

Take notes

While a mano recently opened in 2019 at Power Plant, Makati, the restaurant helmed by Amado Fores snagged the One To Watch 2022 award.

The awarding body began in 2017. It started as an online guidebook to locate the best pizza globally. The annually updated list achieved credibility after promotion from Italian journalists Luciano Pignataro, Albert Sapere, and Barbara Guerra.

Beyond pizza quality, the judging criteria also assess each restaurant’s ambiance, decor, service, and menu offerings.
