Global Home: What to Expect From Recently Opened Aman New York— the City’s Most Expensive Hotel - Travel

Beyond “six-star” hotel stays, Aman is offering its first membership club (the Aman Club)—which requires a $200,000 initiation fee.

Aman, the ultra-luxurious hotel group with properties across the Americas, Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and Africa is opening its first destination in New York. Situated in the city’s 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, Aman has restored its historic Crown Building. The structure was originally built in 1921.

While the Switzerland-based company’s expensive resorts command at least $2,000 a night (no matter where), Aman New York is upping the ante. Per Bloomberg, prices of the 815 square feet premier suites start at $3,200 per night. This year, only these rooms can be booked as the hotel only officially opened last August 2.

As per writing, the premier suites cost a hiked up price of $4,200 for weeknights, while they go for $5,500 per night for weekends. For $20,000 a night, guests can stay at its corner suites.

“There’s a big difference between us and everybody else,” Vlad Doronin, Aman’s chairman and chief executive officer tells the publication from Ibiza. “Not only will our clients be willing to pay luxury money for what we’ve built, but they’re going to feel very happy with the value they’ve received by the time they check out.

Pioneering experiences

Beyond hotel stays, Aman is offering its first membership club (the Aman Club)—which requires a $200,000 initiation fee. Members can enjoy access to a speakeasy-like cigar lounge and private wine library that even corner suite inhabitants cannot enter.

On its facilities, it seems, no expense was spared. According to Doronin, the new property’s budget of $300 million ballooned to almost $1.45 billion, due to pandemic and supply chain challenges.

The spa facilities, which can be utilized by non-guests in the future, include two-hour “signature treatments” for at least $785. An indoor pool is also featured in the 25,000-square-foot spa. For fitness, the gym carries a $17,000 VacuTherm stair stepper and infrared rollers for lymphatic drainage.

Aman New York contains 83 suites. Meanwhile, residential apartments are on offer, where its owners will be invited to be “Founders” of the Aman Club.
