Father’s Day 2021: Where to Dine At or Order From This Weekend - LA Wine & Dine

At-home kits and al fresco are still all the rage on the second Dad’s Day spent in community quarantine, but more and more establishments are offering buffets and feasts.

While many people still feel safer celebrating at home on special occasions, more and more restaurants and dining spots are opening up to in-person clients. And we can feel their excitement in the menus and kits they have come up with for Father’s Day Weekend. Here are just some of them.  

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila

Starting today and running until Sunday, Sofitel’s The Food Truck will feature unlimited serving of its grilled specialties as well as sizzling platters paired with free-flowing drinks. An exclusive menu will also be available, which includes dishes such as foie gras cheeseburger slider, softshell crab taco, truffle bellychon, Hungarian sausage, and jerk chicken. The al fresco celebration will be available on June 17 to 20, from 6 P.M. to 9:30 P.M., and is P3,500 net per person.

Over at Spiral, 21 dining ateliers showcase exclusive signature dishes such as cassoulet toulousain from the French Stove, Beef-wrapped asparagus from the Japanese atelier, peking duck roll from the Chinese atelier, wagyu beef rump from the Churrasco, and lechon from the Filipino atelier. Brunch and dinner on June 20 are set at P3,900 for dinner while brunch starts at P4,500.

Manila Marriott

From June 19 to 20, Marriott Café is bringing back its Meat Overload spread which includes Australian beef rump and whole turkey roast, Oceans Harvest with jumbo tiger prawns and whole apahap, mud crab, and French Legris oysters with classic mignonette and citrus salsa. A variety of sashimi, sushi, pasta, salad, local dishes, and dessert are also included in the selection. This Father’s Day buffet is available from June 19 (dinner only) and June 20 (brunch and dinner) for P2,380 net per person. Prior reservation is required. Call (0917) 584-9560 to reserve a seat.

If you’re thinking of celebrating at home, Marriott’s Father’s Day Feast offers a spread of favorites, including a whole slab of park baby back ribs, U.S. certified Angus striploin steak. (180g), grilled homemade veal bratwurst, grilled barbeque chicken leg quarters, crafted sides, and moustache cake to top it all off. It costs P4,100 net and is good for three to four persons.

Sheraton Manila

At the S Kitchen’s King Buffet, diners can order a Surf and Turf dinner buffet, which includes cochinillo, roasted U.S. ribeye steak, lamb shank, jamon de cebo iberico aged for 24 months, blue crab, tuna panga, and tiger prawn. All guests get a complimentary cocktail, too—all these for P2,700 net. The buffet is P2,700 net, which includes a complimentary cocktail, is available from June 19 to 20, from 5 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.

If the family doesn’t want to leave home, Sheraton also has its King Feast. This spread includes 4kg roasted pork belly Cebuchon, chorizo rice, vegetable ginataan, liver sauce, and an eight-inch The King’s cake, which is also sold separately. This package is good for six to eight guests for P4,000 net. It is available from June 18 to 20, 2021 from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. for takeaway, pickup, and delivery (additional fee will apply). A 24-hours reservation is required.

The Peninsula Manila

This weekend, The Lobby at Manila Pen will feature a lavish Meaty Man’s Menu, which offers an array of rare cuts of meat. If you want to go open air, the hotel’s Spices is doing Father’s Day Under the Stars, where Dad can enjoy a complimentary dinner when dining with three paying guests at P2,490 per person. Escolate, meanwhile, will have its popular Sunday Brunch Buffet at P3,100 per person.

Stay-at-home celebrations can opt for the hote’s special Father’s Day picnic en casa prepared by The Peninsula Boutique. Dad-size platters can be ordered in advance for pick-up at The Peninsula Boutique satellite counter at The Lobby on Father’s Day. Apart from the platters, Boutique also has its Giant Tiramisu Tub Cake, alcohol-infused ice creams and sorbets, and cocktail sets available to order from June 14 to 20.

Hilton Manila

On Father’s Day, Hilton Manila will have a Vega Poolside BBQ feast, featuring marinated beef, fish, pork and chicken skewers paired with buckets of seafood like prawns, mussels, squid, lobster claws. The BBQ set will be paired with an ice cold two liter beer or iced tea tower, grilled corn, steamed rice and pickled vegetables. The Vega Poolside BBQ set menu, which serves four to six diners, starts at P5,999 net, and is available on Sunday, June 20, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Hilton also has its Dad’s Family Platters, which may be enjoyed at home. They are available in four kinds: Buttered Cajun seafood; Baked river prawns; Lobster claws; or the 30-day, one-kilogram Butter-aged rib eye steak, which is served with roasted root vegetables and mashed potatoes. Each set is served in self-heating Hotboxes, good for eight to 10 diners, and stars at P6,875 net.

Marco Polo Ortigas

Marco Polo’s VU showcases its very own spice rub with each plate of its Smoked Barbecued Spare Ribs this month, which is available for dine in and takeaway. Each set comes with grilled pineapple and truffle mashed potatoes and can serve up to two persons for P2,980, inclusive of applicable charges. Reservations are now accepted for Father’s Day Weekend, with the restaurant’s al fresco section available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 4 to 9:30 P.M.

Discovery Primea

For this weekend, the culinary team of Discovery Primea prepared a French bistro-inspired multicourse feast for its at-home kit. Priced at P5,000 net, each kit is good for four to five persons, with the option of adding a bottle of Louis Jadot Beaujolais Village for an additional P1,800 net. The at-home meal kit is available on June 18 to 20, and orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance. 

For appetizers, the kit has a selection of Deviled Eggs, Smoked Salmon “Rillettes,” Bistro Marinated Olives, Seared Calamari and Arugula Salad with roasted peppers, and Baked Mussels “Mornay.” The main course is a serving of U.S. Angus Beef “Petite Roast” with black peppercorn sauce “poivrade” with comes with a choice of side dishes. “Tarte au Chocolat” with vanilla English cream rounds off the meal.

Gastronômade Manila

Aaron Isip, the Chef Espoir 2015 awardee who developed his techniques at the famed Parisian culinary school Le Cordon Bleu, developed two special kits for the special occasion this Sunday: a Terre et Mer-Surf & Turf Kit as well as a Carnivore Grill Kit. Both can be easily cooked and heated at home using a pan or an air fryer.

The Surf & Turf includes 400 grams of Snake River Farms Wagyu Striploin precooked Sous-Vide and a bottle of Sauce Entrecôte as well as two Maine Lobster Tails Gratinés with a bottle of Yuzu Meunière Sauce. On the other hand, the Carnivore Grill has 400 grams of Wagyu Bavette Flank Steak, Chiangmai Chimichurri, Kurobuta Pork Ribs cooked for 16 hours Sous-Vide and Sobrasada Sauce plus ready-to-heat summer vegetables.
