The 54-year-old’s latest fashion show was held last October in London, a showcase that presented his final collection. While maintaining his brand since 1995, Simons has held creative director posts at heavyweight brands Jil Sander, Christian Dior, and Calvin Klein. Beginning in 2020 to the present, he serves as Prada’s co-creative director with Miuccia Prada.

When Simons’ entrance to the Italian house was announced, speculation that Miuccia, 73, was on the brink of retirement. However, she denied the rumors at a news conference, “I like working, don’t make me older than I am.” At Prada, Miuccia and Simons share “equal responsibilities for creative input and decision making.”

As of writing, Simons has yet to confirm what brought the decision to close.
