Dazeen Awards 2022: Some of the Most Stylish Hotels and Spas From Across the Globe - Travel

The list includes a Belgian beer spa.

After the last two pandemic years crippled the hospitality world, the industry is booming again. With the opening of new hotels and spas globally, the architecture magazine Dezeen has released a list of the most stylish. 

Now in its fifth year, the annual awards program honors the world’s best architecture, interiors, and design. The Dazeen Awards 2022 is judged by an international panel of 93 figures from the industries. This includes Italian homeware design brand Alessi’s president Alberto Alessi, New Delhi-based architects Sanjay and Sanchit Arora of studio Renesā, and Dutch sustainable solar designer Marjan van Aubel.

From the more than 5,000 entries across continents, here are some of the shortlisted best-designed new hotels and spas from this year. The finalists will be revealed in November. 

Bath & Barley – Brussels, Belgium

The Belgian beer spa offers a unique experience. In a private room with yourself and your companions, you can soak in a bath filled with fresh water, hops, barley, and yeast. Per the spa, the ingredients of beer can be beneficial for the body and mind. Of course, you’ll also have beer options to sip during the treatment.

The space, originally a centuries-old city center, was designed by Antwerp design agency WeWantMore.

Schwan Locke – Munich, Germany

Close to the city center of Theresienwiese, the site of Oktoberfest, the shared living space boasts 151 studio apartments. It also offers facilities such as a gym, co-working space, cafe, and bar-restaurant BAMBULE.

Downtown LA Proper Hotel – Los Angeles, California

The building from the 1920s was converted into a 148-room hotel. Apart from the Latin American and Moroccan influences seen in the interiors, art installations by LA artists Abel Macias, Ben Medansky, Morgan Peck, and Judson Studios boost its flare.
