Mercedes also worked with Off-White for a capsule collection inspired by the car.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S680, designed by Virgil Abloh before his passing last November. The German car company describes the new design as the “final chapter” of their partnership with the influential designer.

Last December, to honor Abloh, Mercedes revealed Project Maybach—an off-road luxury concept coupe he created with Mercedes’s chief design officer Gorden Wagener.
Celebrating talent
Project Maybach was displayed at Miami’s Rubell Museum in the same month to celebrate “the work of a truly unique design talent,” the brand said. However, although Project Maybach was not produced commercially, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 is.
Production is limited to only 150 units, and the vehicle features a two-tone color palette of “Obsidian Black” and “Sand.” The color scheme continues in the car’s interiors, such as its steering wheel, lower dashboards, floor mats, and ceiling.
Buyers will also get a custom wooden box containing a 1/18 scale car replica.
Matching capsule
Accompanying the vehicle’s release is a capsule collection Mercedes is releasing in partnership with Off-White, the luxury clothing brand Abloh founded.

From Project Gelaendewagen, which set the benchmark for fashion/automotive collaborations with our iconic G-Class, to “Project MAYBACH,” which brought the distinguished Mercedes-Maybach heritage into the future,” Wagener said in a statement.
“Together with Virgil, we truly broke new ground. The limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh exemplifies the symbiosis between innovative design and ultimate craftsmanship now available on the road.”
The capsule includes vintage-inspired t-shirts, cotton fleece crewnecks and hoodies, baseball caps, and racing gloves.
