Be the Heat with the Jimmy Choo 2021 High Summer Collection - Lookbook

This playfully unique collection of sun-kissed glamour by Jimmy Choo is inspired by the sights and sensibilities of Miami

Imagine a place where we can escape. The Jimmy Choo 2021 High Summer collection is inspired by a place full of colours, full of summer, an urban landscape juxtaposed by the beach: which led us to Miami–a unique iteration of Art Deco found only within that locale, a mix of a sophisticated metropolitan city with the freedom and vibrancy of the sun, the sea, the sand. A play of contrasts: soft colour and sharp silhouette, feminine details with unexpected materials.

“High summer to me is about sun, sea and blue sky–an escape, to have fun and not be weighed down. I wanted to drown myself with heat, be uplifted by colours and a sense of freedom, which naturally led me to Miami. Unlike anywhere else in the world, it’s an incredibly exciting city with a dose of sophistication and a vibrant art deco scene. We were thinking about fusing all of those ideas through unexpected finishes, a sensuality in shape, from day through to evening, and warmth in colour. This collection is about pleasure and enjoyment, feeling the heat and being sun kissed,” says Sandra Choi, Creative Director of Jimmy Choo.

A zinging mood of excitement and confidence fires this collection, drenched with light and popping with colour. For High Summer, the Jimmy Choo woman is indulging herself, celebrating her freedom, her sensuality and her love of glamour. Inspired by the sun kissed atmosphere of Miami, the architecture and the unanticipated distinction of the landscape, the collection is about contrasts and contradiction.

An ode to Miami’s twenty-first century incarnation as a hub of the art world, with painterly treatments, sculptural shapes and a palette that is all-important. Like the city itself, the collection is uplifting, there is a mood of excitement, a sense that anything is possible.

Alongside, there is a feel of comfort: always, Jimmy Choo creates shoes for women, to make them not only look but feel their best. The BAY is a classic Jimmy Choo strappy sandal with a difference, the straps padded like soft sculpture to three-dimensional volume in soft nappa. With a squared-off chisel toe, it makes a bold aesthetic statement, yet also speaks of comfort, seeming to embrace and caress the foot.

The OCEAN takes a fluid wave of leather and twists it around the vamp, creating a whirlwind effect, holding the foot sturdily while appearing to wash over. The ART features a 85mm block heel in a sculptural block of lucite with a degrade surge of colour pulsing through it. Faceted like a diamond and inlaid with jewelled stars, the heel invokes the sense of having a cocktail by the sea, glimmering in the setting sun.

The mood crosses over to accessories: the BON BON evening-bag is offered glistening with crystal, in a sunset ombré; the MINI PARIS micro-bag is presented in a seemingly endless array of hues and finishes – as multi-faceted as the jewels that inspire Jimmy Choo. Always playful, it is sparkling in glitter, animaux jacquards, and glistening in glossy fabrications.

The ANA hobo is offered in canvas with a degrade finish like a wash of pigment; the MACY is a raffia basket, hand-woven in Colombia to champion true artisanship. Worked with colour, as if pure pigment has been painted onto the piece, transforming it into a work of art. As with all of the collection, it is a celebration on the one hand of craft and art; on the other of freedom, joy and positivity. Glamour in the sun.
