This year’s Special Exhibit Artists include Richard Quebral with his work depicting humorous stories about his family and home through pastel colors, grids, and textures; Dex Fernandez, bringing his alter ego Garapata to this year’s art fair, which harkens back to his childhood memories of the namesake tick in his art. Growing up with a number of pets, the insect was a prominent image in his years and has manifested it in his art as an ‘infestation’ in public spaces, design objects, fashion accessories, and new media. Other special exhibits feature the work of renowned children’s book illustrator Robert Alejandro; and watercolor artist and calligrapher, Reena Gabriel.

To adapt and thrive to the online medium, this year’s Art in the Park also features curated videos premiering on their Facebook page throughout the fair’s run. One of which featured Jackie Lozano in a visual portrait demonstration that shows her approach distinguished by lightness and depth through her layered strokes with her palette knife. Upcoming videos will also feature a performance by Fifth Wall Fest that highlights the fusion of art forms of dance and film with their unique take on the dance film genre.
