The Academy nominated the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star in the “Actress in a Supporting Role” category.

Bassett will compete against Hong Chau, Kerry Condon, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu.

She previously won Best Supporting Actress at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. This made her the first actor to win a major individual acting award for a Marvel film adaptation.

Wakanda Forever’s Queen Ramonda is a character that touched my spirit because she is a mother and a leader who must care for her grieving nation as much as she cares for her family in mourning,” Bassett said in a statement.

The MCU is the world’s biggest movie franchise with earnings of over $25 billion at the global box office.
