All Things Cozy: Gigi Hadid Launches a 100 Percent Cashmere Clothing Brand - Lookbook

Beyond supermodel activities, Hadid has dabbled in designing through collaborations. And now, she’s launched Guest in Residence, a brand of her own.

Last August, Gigi Hadid posted a series of teaser images on Instagram. The snaps of folded fabric stacks, textile samples, and branded stickers hinted she was working on a fashion line. Now, a month later, the supermodel has officially launched her own knitwear brand, Guest in Residence.

“My first-ever brand! As a founder, creative director, and lover of all-things-cozy, I’m so happy to finally share that @GuestInResidence officially launches September 7th, 2022,” Hadid wrote in an Instagram post. / Image from @guestinresidence on Instagram.

Beyond walking on significant runways, starring in ad campaigns, and gracing magazine covers, Hadid has dabbled in designing. From 2016 to 2018, she pushed out four collaborations with Tommy Hilfiger. In April, the mother of one created bathing suits with Frankies Bikinis, a label founded by her childhood friend Francesca Aiello.

“If you pay attention, you can learn wild things beyond modelling in this job,” the 27-year-old tells Vogue. / Image from @guestinresidence on Instagram.

“I think a lot of people assumed that starting my own brand would be the next natural step,” the 27-year-old tells Vogue. “But I wasn’t trying to rush it. I knew that something would come to me that felt right, that had integrity to it.”

Beyond modelling

The idea for Guest in Residence came to Hadid during the pandemic-caused lockdowns. To prioritize quality and sustainability, the creative director even sourced biodegradable yarn through cashmere from Inner Mongolia.

“I want clothes that feel sustainable and realistic to have for a long time,” she shares in the interview. “If you look after cashmere correctly, it can last for decades.”

The 100 percent cashmere brand offers pieces for men and women, from robes and hats to cardigans and hoodies. Meanwhile, the limited edition collection showcases solid-colored everyday pieces in pale pinks, lime, bubble gum, and cherry red.

While some collections remain permanently on offer, the brand will intermittently release limited drops. From model to design collaborator and now founder and creative director, Hadid proves she’s more than a face, “If you pay attention, you can learn wild things beyond modeling in this job,” she says.
