The Red Charity Gala: A Night to Remember -

The social set and members of the fashion stratosphere mingled together for the Red Charity Gala, the Philippines’ grandest charity fashion event that benefits the Philippine Red Cross. This year, the designer honored with a fashion show was Joey Samson.

The night started with cocktails outside the Grand Ball Room of the Shangri-La at The Fort. Guests dressed in their best ball-gown finery milled about, including LifestyleAsia cover girls Marion Branellec in Rosenthal Tee, Scarlet Snow Belo in Mischka Aoki and Kai Lim in Joey Samson. Co-chairs Tessa Prieto Valdes and Kaye Tinga were resplendent in Joey Samson.

Every year, along with the fashion show, an auction occurs as a scrumptious dinner is served. This year’s auction offerings did not disappoint. 12 items were up for the bidding, including an Omega watch won by Gabbi Garcia, a 6 night A2A Safari in Botswana won by Small Laude, a Diamond Emperor necklace worth PHP1,000,000  and a British Escapade from PAL won by Vicki Belo.

Joey Samson’s fashion show had all the elements of grandeur on the runway as expected from the master designer. The chosen theme PilgrimAge pertained to the designer as a nostalgic journey, captured and reconfigured by a feeling that evoked moments in time. Combining vintage glamour with a sense of romanticism, and juxtaposing extravagant details with customary silhouettes, the result was a parade of looks that felt modern and timeless.

Looks included a silver pleated shirt dress worn with fine linen toile as an over coat, a dress in rich hues of blue fabrics and textures, and a navy pinstripe coat worn over an off-white tuxedo shirt and a leopard print full skirt. The stunning jacquard gown in yellow and black with floral embroidery worn by Kai Lim on cover of the September 2017 issue dedicated to the Gala was also seen.

The show ended with Joey Samson, Ben Chan, Tessa Prieto Valdes and Kaye Tinga walking down the runway giving thanks for their support. This crowd was the biggest attended yet, and guests stayed as the night winded down, no doubt to marvel about this year’s biggest occasion.
