And The Theme For The Met Gala 2018 Is... -

The spring of 2018 will definitely be a season to look out for; The Costume Institute has just announced the theme of the upcoming Met Gala entitled “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and it sounds just as scandalous, perplexing, yet as interesting as we had hoped it would.

Formed to rouse significant dialogue regarding fashion and religious works of art featured in the museum, the 150 + carefully curated ensembles will shed light on the complex, ever-thin silver lining that exists between faith and fashion, as described by Costume Institute curator in charge Andrew Bolton.

The festivities will be done in 3 separate locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location, and Cloisters, featuring masterpieces by big names in fashion such as Cristóbal Balenciaga, Donatella Versace (an acting sponsor), Jon Galliano, Coco Chanel, Christine and Stephen A. Schwarzman.

Co-hosting with Anna Wintour this 2018 are some very familiar names: Amal Clooney, Rihanna, and Donatella Versace.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the premiere of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit, and is one of the most anticipated, well-attended fashion events in the industry.

“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” will be available for viewing next May 10–October 8, 2018.
