3 Things That Excite Us About Sofitel’s French Month -

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila’s French Month Festival this July aims to take gastronomes and patrons into a culinary journey through France with the arrival of Master Chef Patrick Terrein, weekends filled with wine tastings, and a vibrant celebration on Bastille Day weekend.

French Master Chef Patrick Terrien will be Cooking at Sofitel

Celebrated Chef Patrick Terrein brings his exemplary skills to the Sofitel kitchen for French month. With over 49 years of culinary experience, the Touraine native has served as the French Food Ambassador and guest French Master Chef in over 21 countries because of his masterful ability and knowledge on traditional French cooking.

Terrein began his career as a sauce chef, climbing his way up the ladder of culinary success at the Intercontinental in Paris. He soon became sous chef to Michelin Star Chef Joel Robuchon at the Nikko Hotel Paris. As his growing résumé began to flourish, he decided to dedicate his life to teaching the younger generation what he learned in the food business. He became an instructor for 24 years at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, one of the most recognized culinary institutes in the world, before co-authoring cookbook La Cuisine Tourangelle, an homage to his native region.

From July 17 to 23 the Spiral buffet will be featuring Patrick Terrien’s traditional French recipes. A Chef’s Table event on July 17 will prove to be exciting as he prepares a 4-course dinner menu served at Spiral’s Davao and Boracay Show Kitchen (seats are limited to 10). Wine lovers are suggested to book a seat at the Degustation French Wine Dinner on July 21, where Terrien will pair his recipes with French wine. For aspiring chefs, he will have a cooking class for a group of 10 on July 19, teaching two of his signature dishes.

Wine, Wine, and More Wine!

Premier wine selections from the finest vineyards in France will be available at Le Bar for exclusive wine tastings every Friday and Saturday at 5:30PM this month of July, beginning with the South of France (July 7-8 2017), Bordeaux (July 14-15 2017), Cotes de Rhones (July 21-22 2017) and topping it off are vino selections from Burgundy (July 28-29 2017).

Spiral also joins the wine party, serving special selections from different regions during Sunday Brunches. A wine appreciate class is also scheduled at Sofitel for sommelier aspirants. The Art of Wine will feature French wine connoisseur Tanguy Gras for an afternoon of wine pairings on July 29, 2017 at 4 PM.

French Pride on Bastille Day

A revolutionary French menu and themed cocktails will be served on July 14 to 16 in celebration of Bastille Day. Fireworks will be displayed poolside, where one can order specialty cocktails such as the Bloody Revolutionary Cocktail. An all-white ensemble barbeque is something to look forward to, as the Sunset Bar transports diners to the south of Frances with Provence-inspired meals and live entertainment.

Prizes will be given to those who dine at Spiral on Bastille Day weekend, with a chance to win a handbag and luggage set by Lipault and featured prizes from Guerlain, Tefal and Nuxe Paris.
