Love Yourself: How to Spoil Yourself on Valentine’s Day

Who made the rules that Valentine’s Day must be spent with a significant other? Whether you’re alone because your partner is out of the country, or you simply haven’t found “the one” just yet, Happy Hearts Day is just as much for you as it is for all those couples proclaiming their love for each other all over your Instagram feed. There’s no use being bitter, as happiness should always be spread and never envied. Don’t forget, there is one relationship that you should always pay attention to: your relationship with yourself. Never forget that loving yourself is just as important as loving others. We’ve put together a list of suggestions and ways you can happily spend “Single Awareness Day” in peace and contentment…

    Go on a shopping spree

Save yourself the time and effort buying gifts for a significant other wherein you aren’t even sure if they would appreciate it or not. That new Tiffany hardware would look as good on you whether it a gift or not. They say shopping is therapeutic. Why shouldn’t you have a love affair with Jimmy Choo, Mr. Hubert Givenchy, and Mrs. Carolina Herrera? Manila’s shopping scape has improved over the years and luxury shops can be found in almost every mall in Metro Manila. For those living in the North, make a visit to Shangri-La Mall’s East Wing where ADORA has magically sprung up (finally!). Carolina Herrera’s Manila flagship at Greenbelt 5 may also be a good stop on your shopping spree. The designer label’s feminine silhouettes will surely make you feel as powerful and elegant as Ms. Vogue herself, Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Shopping is fun, and there’s no better way to treat yourself then visiting your (designer) friends at the mall.

    NETFLIX loves you too

For those looking to stay in and avoid social media all together, we recommend that you go see a movie. With Oscar season just around the block, the theaters are bound to be filled with some of the most prestigious films of 2017. We looked it up for you, and by the time Valentine’s Day arrives several hits like I, Tonya, Black Panther, Darkest Hour, Fifty Shades Freed and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will all be in theaters. There’s a certain harmony to watching movies alone, and you might be one of those people who really enjoy it. Going during typical work hours usually means empty, peace cinemas. You can also bring the movie marathon back home, with NETFLIX waiting there, ready for your consumption. Try a new show that you can binge until March comes around.
