Collector’s Dream at the Salcedo Auctions -

The rains and heavy traffic could not dampen the festive mood at the reception of Salcedo Auctions’ The Collectors’ Sale and PHILUX’s new Scandiniana collection at the Salcedo Village Apartment. Richie and Karen Lerma of Salcedo Auctions and Zelda Kienle together with her daughters Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez and Jessica Kienle Maxwell entertained guests at the intimate gathering where a lush buffet spread by Happy Ongpauco Tiu was served. The event merged PHILUX’s new collection that featured Scandanavian minimalism with Philippine detailing that fit perfectly with the works of National Artists Cesar Legaspi, Jose Joya, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, H.R. Ocampo, Ang Kiukok and Bencab, the latter’s 1972 A Cigarette Factory Worker from his Larawan series was the highlight of the auction. Another standout piece was a painting by Ronald Ventura entitled Memorial Souvenirs. Fine jewelry from Bvlgari such as an ‘Alveare’ diamond bangle and a pair of tourmaline and amethyst ear clips, and ornate rings went under the hammer. Rare 18th and 19th century ivory and sterling silver collectibles were also a bit hit among the collectors.
