3-Star Michelin Restaurants You Need To Experience ASAP -

Getting a Michelin star slapped onto your restaurant’s name probably feels like the way Leonardo DiCaprio felt after finally getting an Oscar: It’s well-deserved, much anticipated, and affirmed by all. Multiply that by three—the highest Michelin rating there is—and you’ve got a feeling close to nirvana. You now have the right to die happy, because you’ve just fed your loyal customers some of the best food known to man. You did your mother proud, kid.

That being said, here are just some out of the many other ‘kids’ who’ve made their mothers proud as well by garnering a shimmering 3-star Michelin rating on their own restaurants. Make a note of these if ever you find yourself in the area. You wouldn’t want to miss out.

Sukiyabashi Jiro
Tokyo, Japan

trainstations0515-sukiyabashi-jiro

Sukiyabashi Jiro is so good, they made a documentary about it. Headed by chef Jiro Ono, known to be the world’s greatest sushi chef, Sukiyabashi Jiro is a quaint yet internationally acclaimed restaurant with sushi meticulously crafted by the legend himself. Garnering their well-deserved 3-star rating last 2008, Sukiyabashi Jiro remains as the holy grail of sushi places in Japan. Go for the sushi, stay for the lessons; Jiro makes sure to give all his 10 customers (the restaurant can only fit 10 people at a time) a crash course on the art of appreciating and consuming sushi. In fact, Jiro even teaches you how much sauce to put in your sushi for that perfect umami flavor—how thoughtful.

Le Louis XV
Hotel de Paris, Monaco

le_louis_xv

Deep within the depths of the glittering Mediterranean is Monaco, home to precious jewels such as the offspring of Grace Kelly and Le Louis XV, which has earned eternal bragging rights for its exceptional food and penchant for the art of fine dining. This soaring gastronomic masterpiece is the result of a massive overhaul done by none other than chef Alain Ducasse himself. Skillfully, he and his team were able to transition a space reminiscent of the 19th century into that of the newer, more vibrant 21st century, thus further highlighting their 3-star rating. Watch as the staff clad in a uniforms designed by none other than Marine Halna du Fretay herself (senior women’s ready-to-wear designer at Hermès from 1989-2011) skillfully maneuver their way through the night, serving only the finest French haute cuisine the world has to offer.

Ducasse has mastered the art of gastronomic luxury, which he says “…happens when a dish is so well conceived it wins the time to seduce with subtlety.”

And just like that, we’re sold.

Lasarte
Barcelona, Spain

restaurantes_navidad_-t

We highly doubt that Lasarte’s roster of high profile customers end up eating their food—after all, how could one dare to vandalize such an immaculate piece of work? Chef de Cuisine Paolo Casagrande, mastermind behind Lasarte which has garnered its third Michelin star last 2016, ought to add ‘artist’ on his resumé, pronto. His well-plated masterpieces are a sight for sore eyes and a treat for the senses. Getting a much-coveted seat at Lasarte is a struggle for most, therefore it is necessary to book weeks (even months) ahead of time. Go into sensory overload over and over again as a wheelbarrow makes a stop by your table, armed with plates paired with the best vintages curated by sommelier Marc Pinto. Make sure to book a room in the 5-star Monument Hotel as well, home to Lasarte. Nothing gets as luxurious as this.

Cheval Blanc
Basel, Switzerland

Imagine the perfect marriage of French haute cuisine with Mediterranean and Asian influences—that, my friends, is why Cheval Blanc is what it is today. A part of the 100 best restaurants in the world, this genius gastronomic brainchild of Chef de Cuisine Peter Knogl (Chef of the Year for 2011 and 2015) remains to be one of the best jewels Basel, Switzerland has to offer both its citizens and its tourists. The array of dishes are divine—a beaming homage to the best nature can provide us. Ordinary is most certainly not in Peter Knogl’s vocabulary, for the chef with eclectic taste creates from the heart, not from trends.

“My greatest enjoyment: to select high quality products and then prepare them. My greatest pleasure: to indulge my guests with a cuisine full of shape and colour, full of taste and the sun. My greatest satisfaction: to impart well-being through my cooking,” says the culinary master himself. If that doesn’t convince you to take a visit, we don’t know what will.

The Fat Duck
Berkshire, England

4963b9614d7e6072efa9ed8001d1df45

In an individualistic 16th century building located in the humble country of Berkshire, is the not so humble The Fat Duck. With its 3-star Michelin rating and accolades such as Restaurant of the Year, Best Restaurant in the World and Best Restaurant in the UK, Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck can boast all he wants and we’ll still be right here to listen. Known internationally for his penchant for gastronomic experimentation, Heston Blumenthal has created quite a modest 42-diner abode, decorated stylishly with simple adornments that make the dishes the star of the show. All this culinary mastery is rooted from such simple ingredients, which adds to the charm of the place.

Make sure to take part in ‘The Journey’, which recreates the childhood memories of Blumenthal himself. Leave with a contented smile that lasts for years to come.
