  • May 9, 2018

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila invites you to join in on the fun this Mother’s Day (May 11-13, 2018) weekend by celebrating “the light of the home” by treating her to heightened versions of beloved household dishes at the Spiral buffet.

Celebrity mothers Christine Jacob-Sandejas and Suzi Entrata-Abrera has collaborated with the master chefs of the famous buffet to showcase their family’s favorite dishes. Christine collaborates with French Master Chef Julien Coose to serve Calamari Fritti, Beef Lasagna, and Tiramusi. On the other hand, Suzi Abrera teams with Japanese Chef Masaaki Ishigawa to cook up a gastronomical storm with her Curry Salmon Maki and California Maki. In addition, other Spiral artisans have helped Suzi create her special Moroccan Chicken Tagine with preserved lemons and olives and a Banana Chia Pudding for dessert.

Olympian Christine Jacob-Sandejas is a busy working mom who seamlessly balances a life of showbiz and family. Currently, she is a host of a popular morning show and lifestyle talk show. She is the wife of engineer Paco Sandejas whom she has five children with. “I remember when I was a young girl, my parents would treat my siblings and I to a day of swimming and indulging in good food at the Philippine Plaza. I also had my prom here so the property definitely holds a special place in my heart,” she reminisced. Now an established woman and caring mother to a large brood, she longs to share her home recipes to other families dining at Sofitel this weekend. Her selection of food is inspired by their themed dinners at home, a Saturday night tradition for the Sandejas clan. They enjoy eating healthy and hearty dishes after a long and active day playing sports.

Still, Suzi remains to have a tight bond with her three daughters and husband, television host Paolo Abrera. She says that Sofitel holds a special place in her heart because she spent her honeymoon at the hotel 17 years ago. “Since then, the family has been fond of spending staycations in Sofitel Manila and the kids love dining at Spiral especially during breakfast which is their favorite.” The start of week at the Abrera household is christened Monday Night Special, where Suzi creates specialty dishes from different cultures for the family. They all share a love for international cuisine, especially for Japanese food!
