Beauty Break: Halston Heritage Spring 2018 is Bringing Back the Wild Spirit of the 1970s - Luxe Living

Do you remember Roy Halston’s glory days in the 1970s? Women in his creations were often seen in flowy skirts and vibrant colors rocking it out on the streets of New York City or inside the notorious Studio 54 nightclub. In fact, Halston was often sighted there, accompanying one of his favorite muses, the Oscar-winning actress Liza Minnelli. In 1972, when Minnelli was accepting the Oscar for her role in Cabaret, she rightfully wore the designer during Hollywood’s High Holy Night. Since then, Halston and Liza’s collaborations were stuff fashion magic was made of. They’d walk into a venue, owning the room as a tandem, and a huge part of it was because of Halston’s groundbreaking creations for the modern women. His popularity rose and soon he was dressing the likes of Bianca Jagger and Anjelica Huston.

Fast forward to 2018 and Halston is still a force to be reckoned with. For this week’s Beauty Break we look at the label’s new Spring 2018 Halston Heritage collection. The brand describes its mood for this collection as “loose luxe, airy volume, open and bare, laid back, vintage stripes, gathered draping, and lazy sexy.” Sounds familiar (hello Liza, Bianca and Anjelica!)? The 70s are back with a vengeance this year with vintage looks appearing in a number of collections from multiple designers. Don’t believe us? Take a lot at some of our previous Beauty Breaks and see for yourselves.

Under the vision of industry veteran Ben Malka (who is now Halston’s new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer), the new Halston Heritage Spring 2018 collection may be a vintage throwback, but still quite appropriate for today’s women. In fact, 2018 and 1970s have more in common than you think. It was a time of booming artists, experimentation, and rebellious behavior in society. The war in Vietnam was over and this ushered in a time for self-expression. The brand brings back these iconic looks through their effortless collections that tell women that nothing is cooler than being alive and being yourself. May the spirit of the wild 70s live on! Scroll down to see looks from Halston Heritage Spring 2018 for this week’s Beauty Break…
