When we thought street style in luxury clothing was out, premium clothing and accessories brand Bally releases images from their new Spring-Summer 2018 Collection. Inspired by the artist lifestyle and the 1970s street culture of New York City, Bally has found a strange hybrid of Boho and elegant, and we admit that we’re totally digging it.
Pieces from the new collection look as if they came straight out of a vintage independent movie or a still photographs from Bohemian New Yorkers—works made by underground artists during the cusp of the social and cultural revolution of the 1970s and 80s. Imagine, living carefree during the days when rock ‘n’ roll was pure and artists lived without a stick of furniture in their apartments. Bally’s new collection looks like the ideal collection that embodies the lifestyle of this previously forgotten era. For their risky stylistic move (in an era where prints are in and luxury means sharp silhouettes), we’ve chosen Bally’s Spring-Summer 2018 collection for this week’s Beauty Break.
Inspired by laidback confidence, the women’s line is retro sportswear reinterpreted and elegant Boho style. The brand has chosen to contrast moods of sophistication with sporty features. A lot of leather, techno cotton, double bonded polyester jacquard material, wool canvas trousers, silk habotai tracksuits, and cashmere knit are evident throughout the collection. For the men’s collection, the vintage sneakers (a replica of past releases from the archive) take center stage, with all the looks seeming as if they were designed for the different sneaker varietals. Urban sportswear, lightweight cagoules, trousers tucked into socks, zipped tops, and canvas tops match the sneakers perfectly.
