Vince Murga and Billie Puyat Gets Married In Bohol

There was a heavy downpour as the groom Vincent Gabriel Murga made his way to church in a vintage 1955 Ford Customline for his altar date with his girlfriend of ten years, Elizabeth “Billie” Puyat. But as guests arrived in the 18th century, newly-renovated Our Lady of the Assumption Dauis Church in Bohol, the sky cleared up and the sun came out. It was the moment the couple had been waiting for, since Vince proposed to Billie fifteen months earlier in Iceland after a romantic helicopter ride. Fr. Fidel Daza Orendain, SDB started the ceremony with a solemn blessing of both parents, Bob and Reena Murga, and Louie and Nina Puyat, with a timely reminder to the young couple about the precious gift of family.

After the mass, guests were whisked off to enjoy sunset cocktails at Amorita Resort’s Cliff Deck, followed by a sumptuous dinner buffet under the stars. Everyone loved the array of desserts including hot-off-the-fryer churros con tsokolate, an ice cream station from the Bohol Bee Farm, and some handmade bean-to-bar, single origin chocolate truffles by Risa chocolates paired with cacao wine.

Following the champagne toast and traditional cutting of the wedding cake (topped with a cute Lego bride and groom), Billie invited all the ladies to pull out white ribbons from under the cake, a wedding practice long-forgotten. These contained little silver and pearl trinkets accompanied by printed tongue-in-cheek, romantic sayings. Fireworks soon lit up the Panglao island skyline, prompting the older guests to retire to their rooms, while the younger set continued the party at Amorita’s Tomar Spanish restaurant for more drinks and pintxos.
